Tips to boost your dog park grant submission

If you dream of building or improving a dog park in your community, you’ve come to the right place because that’s what Bark for Your Park™ is all about. Submissions for a chance to win a dog park grant are taken at the , and to help, we’ve compiled tips to ensure your submission is filled correctly and stands out!

1. Make sure you submit the 2 required documents

Document 1: Letter confirming available land.

You’ll need to submit a verification letter from the landowner where the proposed dog park will be constructed or renovated to confirm their support for the project. We’ve made it easy with this .

Document 2: Letter of support from your local municipality or a 501c3

This can be a letter from the city or county mayor, city manager, the director of parks and recreation or another civic leader within the community. The letter should state their support of the dog park and their willingness to complete the proposed project if the community is chosen as a prize winner. Use this to help you with your letter of support.

2. Tell us your story:

Every community has a story to tell; we’d love to hear about yours. This doesn’t have to be a formal essay and we assembled some questions to help you get started.

    • Does your community, city or town have a unique story?
    • Do you have an active dog community? Do you have any local dog events?
    • How will the dog park help your community?
    • How long have you been trying to build a dog park?
    • If you have been trying to build a dog park, tell us about community promotional events or fundraising you’ve participated in.

3. Show us your park vision.

This part should be fun because you get to show and tell us about your vision for a future dog park or why your current one needs some T.L.C.

    • New dog park submissions: Send us your vision of what your community dog park would look like. This can be a written description of features, a sketch, plans, pictures or a combination.
    • Existing dog park submissions: Send us photos of pets enjoying the current park.

Whether your dog park is (or will be) small, large or in an urban, suburban or rural community, we’re excited to hear about how you would put one of our grants to use. If you have any more questions, check our . Once you’ve fetched all your information, you’ll be ready to submit your documents
