Throw a Cinco de Mayo Party for your Pup

This weekend, many of us will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo! Want to make sure your dog doesn’t feel left out? We have the perfect plan for throwing a fiesta for our furry friends.

Here at PetSafe® Brand we threw a Cinco de Mayo party for our pups and THEY LOVED IT! Presentation is everything! While your dog may not fully appreciate the streamers, balloons, mini piñatas and especially little hats, pet parents at your party are sure to enjoy them.

Our party included a peanut butter ice block with treats hidden inside, peanut butter and raspberry cupcakes, and frozen treats especially made for the party!

I’m here to share the recipe for those treat- I’ve never seen dogs eat a frozen treat so quick!

Benefits of these ingredients:

  • Whole Wheat Flour – High in protein and provides energy
  • Black Beans – Great source of plant-based protein

You’ll mix these in a food processor until they make a dough that will hold its shape when compressed in your hand. It might seem dry but as long as the dough doesn’t fall apart, you’re good to go! If it seems a little more crumbly than you want, add a ½ teaspoon of water at a time until it comes together.

Take about a tablespoon of the dough and press it into a mini cupcake pan. If you don’t have a mini cupcake pan, just fill a regular cupcake pan half way with the dough and press it up the sides to make shells!

Bake these in the oven and boom-Shells!

Now time for the filling! You’ll have extra left after you fill the shells so pour into ice cube trays or molds and freeze.
