Lawrenceburg is centrally located, tucked between the state’s largest metropolitan areas of Louisville and Lexington, offering a rural life but close to larger cities. Over the next few years, our friendly community is expected to grow, offering a mix of rural feel with modern amenities.

Why this community deserves a Bark for Your Park™ grant:

Hammond Creek Dog Park believes our park is a valuable asset in many ways, as it has already proven over the last year. Dog parks promote public health and safety and have genuine multigenerational characteristics. Our dog park has allowed for physical/mental exercise as well as lowering behavioral issues in dogs. Not only is the park a community center for dogs, but it is for the members of our community and surrounding communities as well. The park has been open for the last nine months; we have received many compliments and reviews as well as our Facebook posts regarding how well-liked the park is. With grant opportunities like the Bark for your Park Grant, we hope to be able to improve and continue to provide a safe and fun area for our dogs and community members.

How this community would use a Bark for Your Park™ grant:

If Hammond Creek Dog Park is awarded this grant, we plan to add shade sails to the water stations, providing additional shade for the dogs as well as their owners and community members to enjoy. Currently, in this part of the park, there is no shade offered for the dogs to cool off while getting access to the water feature. Our community has thoroughly enjoyed the dog park, and by adding additional features like the shade sails, days will be gained throughout the year to use the park, especially during the warm summers.
