About this community:

The Jefferson Chalmers Community has been designated a historical community. Once a neighborhood of blight. Now a neighborhood turning blight spaces into spaces for mental and physical well-being for the inclusion of all their dogs. The community is off the canals of Detroit, a place of beauty and water. With a mixture of cultures, everyone works as a team to add spaces that will benefit the community and visitors. With the mission of all our projects and spaces. Why this community deserves a Bark for Your Park™ grant:

The Jefferson Chalmers Community deserve to win a Bark for Your Park™ grant because, they have no place for pet owners to take their dogs. To add a Dog Park to their community would make it safer for dog owners by offering a secure area for dogs to play and socialize, without getting in the way of others, and allow owners a chance to be active with their pet. Dogs help their owners navigate familiar conversations, participate in outdoor group activities, and meet new people. Without physical and mental stimulation, dogs can develop nuisance behavior like excessive barking, constant rough play, restlessness, anxiety, leash pulling, and destructive habits (eating shoes, pulling the couch apart, or knocking food off counters and the table).

How this community would use a Bark for Your Park™ grant:

They would use the Bark for your Park™ grant to make the ground pet friendly and a space for owners to relax while their pet is enjoying the company of other pets. Pet owners can communicate with other pet owners to gain a friendship.
