Knoxville-based Radio Systems Corp, maker of pet training and containment systems, said Monday it has bought the assets of Canadian pet products company Multivet International. Financial terms were not disclosed. Located in Saint Hyacinthe, Quebec, Multivet makes a line of indoor/outdoor dog and cat spray training products. Radio Systems is the home of the PetSafe brand. Robin Hawn, brand manager for Radio Systems Corp., said the acquisition would help open opportunities for the company.

"This will give us an opportunity to strengthen our connection with vets and with veterinarian trainers," she said.

Mike Taylor, director of training and containment products for PetSafe, said in a press release that offering the Multivet line will give customers a broader range of choices for training needs.

"We have tremendous respect for the products Multivet has introduced to the market over the past several years," he said

Asked if Radio Systems Corp. was looking for other companies to buy, Hawn said "we are always on the lookout for possible acquisitions."

Founded in 1991, PetSafe offers wireless fences, kennels, bark-control systems, wellness products, training products and other pet products. Multivet products generally work by using a spray to discourage the pet from engaging in undesirable behavior.
