What Is Your Dog’s New Year’s Resolution?

pet new year's resolutions By Natalie Lester, PetSafe Brand

Natalie and Emma have come up with resolutions for 2013. What are you and your dog going to accomplish this year?

Emma and I spent the first few days of 2013 curled up on the couch watching football and playing with the new toy Santa Paws brought us - an Ipad! One of my favorite things was being about to catch up on all my favorite pet blogs with a few swipes of my fingers. Yay!

As I read, I noticed the trend of all our friends making new year resolutions for their pets. We loved Colby's idea for a new 30 day challenge every month and Romeo the Cat's list really made us giggle! So, Emma and I thought long and hard about what we want to do this year and I'm happy to share our resolutions with you!

1. Visit a new fun, pet-friendly spot: Last year, I took Emma on vacation with me to Hilton Head Island and we had more fun than I ever thought. We definitely want to repeat the experience in a new location. It would be best if it could be driving distance from Tennessee. Let me know if you have any ideas.

2. Practice better potty manners at work: Emma never has accidents at home, unless she gets really excited and piddles a little bit. At work, she doesn't quite understand the same rules apply and, though it doesn't happen too often, sometimes she leaves a little (or not so little) surprise for some of our fellow associates - sorry Steve! We're going to do better, which means I will be making more dedicated times at the office to take her out so she is on more of a schedule.

3. Learn to fetch: A while back, I shared how I trained Emma to practice basic obedience, and I confessed fetch was still a work in progress. Since that post, not a lot has changed. But she has learned to show her belly on command, which is pretty adorable. Still, I'd like to be able to play fetch with her in the park instead of Chase. Do you have any tips? Well, there they are: three achievable goals for 2013.

If we knock them out quick, we will set new ones. What are your and your pet's resolutions for the year?
