Celebrating Another First: PetSafe Bearden Hill Doggie Day Camp Turns One

It is never hard to remember why we all come to work every day at PetSafe. After all, our mission to “be the most trusted brand in the pet ownership experience” is proudly displayed all over our offices in Knoxville. Yet, seeing our work make a difference in our local community is always an energy booster. Our second PetSafe Village Doggie Day Camp location, which is shared with the Young-Williams Animal Village and the Invisible Fence Store of the Tennessee Valley, celebrated its first birthday last night.

Over the last year, 750 animals have been adopted from the facility. Along with the party came a big announcement from Young-Williams. The Animal Center is rolling out a new and expanded spay/neuter program aimed at decreasing pet overpopulation and animal homelessness in the region. The program will consist of a low-cost spay/neuter clinic at the Young-Williams Animal Village and the mobile Spay Shuttle, which Young-Williams will utilize to target and alter high-risk animals at no-cost throughout Knox County.

Radio Systems Corporation, maker of the PetSafe brand, CEO Randy Boyd, Young-Williams administrator Dr. Michael Blackwell and Friends of Young-Williams member Mark Williams paused for a quick photo during the party last night.

“The changes to our spay/neuter program are aimed at serving the pet owners in our community with the greatest need and the pets in our community with the highest risk to impact pet overpopulation,” said Dr. Michael Blackwell, administrator of Young-Williams Animal center. “Every year, we take in roughly 16,000 animals.

We must work to decrease the number of homeless pets in East Tennessee, and the most simple and humane long-term solution is to spay and neuter more animals.” “By being able to reduce the supply of pets through the spay and neuter program and increase the visibility of pet adoption at this center, we can solve this big problem [of animal overpopulation,” said Randy Boyd, Radio Systems Corporation CEO, maker of the PetSafe brand. We’re looking forward to seeing how this program affects our community, and the growth of our local shelter.
